Missed the walk?

Sorry we missed you, however feel free to do the walk without us. If you enjoyed this walk why not consider coming along next year. You would be most welcome.

How to get there:

From Loughborough take A6 (Derby Road) to Hathern. In the village turn right at the traffic lights into Narrow Lane and continue on into Pasture Lane where you will find space to park cars on the left.

Meet and park at Pasture Lane, Hathern where the walk starts and finishes.

Itinerary:

The walk starts with a short tour of the village so that we can see the 14th century church of St. Peter and St. Paul, which had 12th century beginnings, and also Hathern Cross, also thought to be 14th century, from which sermons would have been preached.

We then turn left to Pasture Lane again, continuing along the track until we turn right on Tunnel Lane, and continue across fields following way markers to Dishley Pool, an important wildlife reserve. We follow the path to the right as far as the end of the lake, and then back, this time going straight on towards the River Soar. (Anyone doing the shorter 3 mile walk, can turn back here, returning to Hathern by the outward route.)

We turn left at the river and follow it downstream to the Zouch Radial Gate flood relief. Here we turn left, away from the river until we reach Pasture Lane again, where we turn right and so back to Hathern.

Lunch:

For those who would like to have a lunch at a pub after the walk, we can suggest the Anchor Inn or the King's Arms, both within a third of a mile of Pasture Lane.
